April J. Laws was born in Wayne, Michigan, raised in Rockland County, New York, and now resides in Saratoga County. She graduated from the State University of New York at Purchase College (B.A.) in 2000 and Pace University School of Law (J.D.) in 2004.
Ms. Laws concentrates her practice in civil litigation in the areas of civil rights law, employment law, municipal law, as well as personal injury litigation, where she appears before the state courts of New York and Massachusetts, New York Appellate Courts, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States District Courts located within or for the Northern and Southern Districts of New York.
Prior to forming Johnson & Laws, LLC, Ms. Laws was a senior associate at a Capital District firm for 8+ years. Before moving to the Capital District area, Ms. Laws was a senior associate at a “Premier” rated litigation firm in White Plains, New York, where her practice included litigation in the areas of: Labor Law (construction site accidents); automobile, products and premises liability; intentional torts; negligent security; employment discrimination; Dram Shop; and declaratory judgment litigation between insurers. While working in Westchester County, Ms. Laws litigated cases in the federal courts within the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as the Supreme Courts of the State of New York in the New York City metro area.
